Do you enjoy working with people, especially children, and have a desire to be involved with their development and be part of their community? If so, then read on. How to Apply
Requirements
Full Bachelors Degree in any field.
Preferred
*Experience in teaching/working with preferably kids *Basic Japanese ability or the willingness to undertake formal study before departure. *Please note that whilst we don't believe that one needs teaching or experience to be a great ALT, our customers (the Boards of Education and schools) do expect that our ALTs will have some experience and/or basic knowledge of Japanese language and culture. *Applicants are highly encouraged to seek relevant work experience (esl tutoring/camp counselor work/after school programme teaching etc) and to undertake a basic Japanese language course. This will help significantly in being able to place candidates.
When
There are two main hiring times for ALT positions in Japan - April and September. April yields the biggest intake of new ALTs, as this is when the Japanese Academic school year begins. ALTIA CENTRAL also hires ALTs during other times throughout the year, but these are rare, one off cases. Since ALTIA CENTRAL's recruiting efforts are ongoing through out the year, you can apply to be considered for an ALT position with ALTIA CENTRAL anytime. Also, overseas applicants are generally only considered for positions starting from April, therefore they should be applying just after the September intake to be able to schedule interviews overseas and to allow time to process a Working VISA.
